How to remove wires and optimize system cost by transmitting RS-485 communications over a power bus

00:39:38 | 17 DEC 2020
It’s now possible reduce total communication wires from four to two by transmitting data over power lines with the THVD8000. This RS-485 transceiver features on-off keying (OOK) modulation, enabling power-line communication and reducing the number of wires by 50%. This presentation shares the key points of implementing power-line communication, addressing critical design challenges such as carrier frequency choice, inductor/capacitor selection, signal integrity, and noise immunity.
