In this lecture, we will learn:
- Many pulse width modulate converters can have extra states without a connected path for inductor current.
- Discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) is easy to control but suffers from high root mean squared (RMS) currents.
- Converters may operate in continuous and discontinuous conduction modes at different operating points.
