Switching loss – overlap

In this lecture, we will learn:
- While either voltage or current is usually zero for a switch, this is not true during switch transitions.
- The switch transition is extremely short, but the power is very high, so energy loss per cycle is substantial.
- Increasing switch transition speed will reduce overlap loss (but not loss from parasitic stored energy).
