Switching loss -- parasitic stored energy

In this lecture, we will learn:
  • Device parasitics store energy that is usually lost when switching.
  • Unlike overlap loss, this loss is not reduced with fast transitions.
  • For MOSFET-based circuits, turn-on loss from output capacitance is usually most critical.
