In this video, you will learn about some of the challenges in robotics position sensing, including the need to accurately determine motor position, compact solution size and long-term reliability and see a solution using TMAG5170, a 3D linear Hall-effect sensor with angle outputs. This sensor is designed into a compact, in-plane configuration and correction factors are estimated. With device settings already determined, the sensor is shown aligned to an actual magnet on the motor shaft and linear angle results are demonstrated alongside a commercial sine/cosine angle encoder.
