With the advantages of being noiseless, operating without needing a refrigerant, and having a small size, thermoelectric cooler (TEC) units are widely used for precise temperature control systems in industrial and medical equipment. This video introduces a flexible TEC driver strategy for voltage and current control. The TEC is driven by a single DC/DC controller (LM5176). The supply across the TEC can be changed from -10V to +10V with the 4A maximum current to support both heating and cooling.
