Device Functional Modes

The TCA9617A has an active-high enable (EN) input with an internal pull-up to VCCB, which allows the user to select when the repeater is active. This can be used to separate a misbehaving target on power-up reset. The EN must never change state during an I2C operation. Disabling during a bus operation can hang the bus. Enabling part way through the bus cycles can confuse the I2C parts being enabled. The EN input must change state only when the global bus and repeater port are in the idle state to prevent system failures.
