Overload and Short Circuit Protection Test

Use the following instructions to perform over current test on the TPS4800Q1EVM:

  1. Turn ON the power supply and set the power supply output VIN = 48 V, current limit = 20 A.
  2. Set the Short Circuit Protection (SCP) threshold at 15 A by installing jumper J8 in 5-6 position and install jumper J7 in 1-2 position to set 1-ms delay.
  3. Enable the control input (INP).
  4. Now, load the output to 12 A with electronic load and apply a step of 6 A to observe the overload behavior of TPS48000-Q1.
  5. Disconnect the load.
  6. To perform short-circuit test, uninstall J7 to set shortest SCP delay.
  7. Now, perform output short to capture the short-circuit behavior of TPS48000-Q1.
