Sleep Request

Sleep request is entered when switching from normal mode to sleep mode. This is an intermediate state and is used to for a smooth transition into sleep mode. In sleep request mode, the PHY transmits LPS code-groups, informing the Link Partner that sleep is requested.

PHY sleep_rqst_timer (default = 1ms) begins once the PHY enters into sleep request mode. LPS decoding at the Link Partner will trigger the LPS RECEIVED interrupt. Once sleep_rqst_timer expires, the device transitions to silent mode prior to entering sleep mode. During sleep request, any frame received on the MDI or xMII enables the DP83TC811-Q1; the PHY exits sleep request and enters normal mode.
