JEDEC document JEP155 states that 500-V HBM allows safe manufacturing with a standard ESD control process.
The human-body model is a 100-pF capacitor discharged through a 1.5-kΩ resistor into each pin. The machine model is a 200-pF capacitor discharged directly into each pin. All pins are rated at 2 kV for human-body model, but the feedback pin which is rated at
1 kV.
JEDEC document JEP157 states that 250-V CDM allows safe manufacturing with a standard ESD control process. Manufacturing with less than 250-V CDM is possible with the necessary precautions.
