8.3.8 100 V IEC 61000-4-5 µs Surge Protection

The VBUS_CON pin can withstand surge events up to 100 V open circuit voltage (VPP), or 900 W. A Precision Clamp diverts the current to ground and active circuitry switches OFF the nFET earlier than 100 ns before an over voltage can get through to VBYS_SYS. The ultra-fast response time of the TPD1S514 Family holds the voltage on VBUS_SYS to less than VOVP during surge events of up to 100 VPP.
