Mitigating electromagnetic interference (EMI) has become more challenging given the large passive filters in power-supply systems. By acting as a capacitance amplifier, our active EMI filter (AEF) integrated circuits (ICs) make it possible to achieve up to 30 dBµV of additional EMI attenuation, reducing the size of chokes in a design by up to 80%. Smaller chokes make it possible to use passive filter components that are half the size, enabling reduced system size, cost and weight.

AEF ICs help designers attenuate common-mode EMI by as much as 30 dBµV for improved performance. To mitigate undesirable EMI signals at low frequencies, AEF ICs sense, process and inject canceling currents that effectively increase the capacitance, enabling the use of much smaller chokes. The reduced passive components also have the added benefit of less generated heat, improving system reliability.
