TNETD8000C VDSL Central Office Chipset
The TNETD8000 VDSL Chip Set from Texas Instruments provides a complete low-power, programmable solution for the central office (CO) supporting Very High-Speed Digital Subscriber Line (VDSL) technology. In just three space-saving devices, the TNETD8000 chip set integrates all VDSL functions from host interface to line driver, saving cost and simplifying system development.

Designed for low power consumption and flexibility, the chip set can be programmed to support both symmetric and asymmetric operation with full-speed data transmission rates up to 60 megabits per second (Mbps) at distances up to 1,000 feet. Greater distances can be achieved with extended-range operation at up to 30 Mbps over 3,000 feet, and long-range operation at up to 15 Mbps over 4,500 feet, all at 26 awg or 0.4mm wire.

With associated software and a reference design, the chip set consists of the following devices:

  • TNETD8100 Digital VSDL Transceiver
  • TNETD8200 Controller, based on TI's widely used TMS320C5400 Digital Signal Processor (DSP) technology
  • TNETD8010 Analog Front End (AFE)

To save space in line cards, a single Digital VSDL Transceiver-Controller combination can support one, two or four AFEs for simultaneous transmissions over one full-rate line, two half-rate lines or four quarter-rate lines.
