The PMP8824 uses the TPS53318 DCAP Mode 8A step-down converter to power the VCCR_GXB, VCCL_GXB, VCCT_GXB rails in Altera Arria® V FPGAs enabling tight load regulation, low total component count, high efficiency, high power density, and excellent thermal performance. The complete design fits in 0.29 square inches and comes with a complete test report including power up and ENABLE into Short Circuit, Over-Current Thermal Stress, and demonstration of the Redundant OVP feature when the Feedback Node is shorted to GND.

  • 90% peak efficiency
  • Less than 20degC Temperature Rise on XAL5030 output inductor (Tamb=24degC, 12VIN, 1.2V/6Aout)
  • 36 total power supply components (including IC)
  • 0.29 square inches total power supply area
  • Control Loop Phase Margin greater than 74 degrees
  • 32mV overshoot/27mV undershoot of output voltage in response to 50% load transient
