10/100 Mbps Industrial Ethernet Brick with IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) Transceiver

TIDA-00496 is a compact brick for demonstrating capabilities of precision PHYTERTM. As more systems in the power grid are using time information for real-time analysis, timing becomes critical. This reference design achieves time synchronization with nanosecond accuracy using IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol (PTP).  It can be configured for 10/100-Mbps copper interface or 100-Mbps fiber interface with small form factor LC-type transceiver.

  • Design based on DP83630 Precision PHYTER™ IEEE 1588 PTP transceiver which supports IEEE 1588 V1 and V2
  • Tested for 10/100-Mbps copper interface and 100-Base-FX fiber interface
  • Tested for ESD IEC61000-4-2 contact discharge 6 KV
  • Power < 300 mW at 3.3 V for copper
  • HFBR-5961L/AL transceivers for fast Ethernet with LC connector (<175 mA for transmitter and <120 mA for receiver at 3.3 V)
  • Three programmable LEDs for link, activity and speed
