In this series, we will discuss the PCI Express interface as it relates to retimers. PCIe retimers are signal conditioning devices that actively participate in the PCIe protocol to facilitate communication between a root complex and endpoint. By providing improved signal integrity in a system, they increase the maximum allowable PCIe trace length and allow for more flexibility in system design. We will also discuss the details of how retimers work and their role in PCIe communication.
