This TIPL highlights 5 SMPTE standards that are associated with broadcast video applications. It goes over the SMPTE RX and TX requirements of an SDI signal path, and highlights how a cable driver, equalizer, and retimer help meet these requirements. Cable drivers help meet TX requirements for rise/fall time, overshoot/undershoot, jitter, and amplitude. Equalizers help meet RX return loss requirements, while retimers help with jitter and overall signal integrity.
