Design Kits come with everything required to complete an entire project including a target board, USB debugging and programming interface, free IDE software, MSP430 samples, and cables. Target boards are breakout boards for your MSP430 that include a socket for a specific package and pin count. IAR Embedded Workbench Kickstart for MSP430 is an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for building and debugging embedded applications for MSP430 microcontrollers. The IDE includes a code size limited C-Compiler/Unlimited Assembler/FET Debugger/Simulator. The code size limitation of C/C++ compiler is set to 4 Kbytes for traditional MSP430 devices and 8 Kbytes for MSP430X devices with >60KB Flash. The Debugger is a fully integrated debugger for source and disassembly level debugging with support for complex code and data breakpoint

MSP430Ware is a collection of code examples, datasheets and other design resources for ALL MSP430 devices delivered in a convenient package - essentially everything developers need to become MSP430 experts!
In addition to provide a complete collection of existing MSP430 design resources, MSP430Ware also includes a brand new high level API called MSP430 Driver Library. This new library makes it really easy to talk to MSP430 hardware. As of today, MSP430 Driver Library supports 5 and 6 series devices.

Code examples are available for every MSP430 device that configures each of the integrated peripherals for various application needs. The BSL is software inside of MSP430 devices that enables reading and writing into memory, primarily for programming purposes. UART, I2C, USB & RF BSL are available on MSP430, among others.

MSP430 Flasher is an open-source, shell-based interface for programming MSP430 devices through a FET programmer or eZ430 via JTAG or Spy Bi-Wire (SBW). It is based on the MSP Debug Stack and provides the most common functions on the command line. MSP430 Flasher can be used to download binary files (.txt/.hex) directly to the MSP430 main memory without the need of an IDE like CCS or IAR. It can also be used to extract firmware directly from a device, blow the JTAG fuse, and set hardware breakpoints.
MSP430 Flasher can run from any directory location. This makes it easy to provide an update option for new firmware.

Open Source Dynamic Link Library (DLL) embedded firmware that enables MSP430 microcontrollers to interface to PCs for downloading code, stepping through code, setting breakpoints, and more.
