CCD Image Sensors and Analog-to-Digital Conversion
Many CCD imaging applications require digital processing, the first stage of which is the conversion of an analog signal to a digital one. Several trade-offs are required by the conversion: cost versus performance, speed of conversion versus bits of resolution, serial versus parallel conversion, and which CCD techniques should be performed in the analog versus the digital domain. This document discusses these trade-offs. A CCD to A-to-D interface circuit and a timing diagram of the circuit are provided.
