Fire Alarm Control Panel (FACP)

Your repository for fire alarm control panel design resources

A fire alarm control panel (FACP) is a control unit that receives input from initiating devices (including smoke detectors, gas detectors, and manual pull stations) and sends an output alarm signal to notification appliances (including sounders, speakers, and strobes) when a hazardous condition occurs.

TI reference designs for fire alarm control panels demonstrate robust RS-485 communication. In addition, TI offers reference designs for isolated DC-DC power supplies and driving user interface functions such as status LEDs and an LCD backlight. TI Designs also show ways to achieve greater energy efficiency. For example, methods of adjusting backlight brightness in relation to ambient light. For harsh environments, TI Designs demonstrate the benefits of replacing mechanical buttons with inductive sensing or CapTIvate solutions.
