Automotive USB charge integrated circuits and designs


The automotive industry is constantly adapting to the fast-paced influence of the personal electronics market. TI provides innovative reference designs and complementary ICs for media interfaces to connect external or internal media to a vehicle’s infotainment system, streamlining the design cycle and reducing time-to-market.

USB Charge includes any ports that address both charging and data transfer to fulfill USB-IF standards, including (but not limited to) BC1.2, USB Type-C™, and USB Power Delivery (PD) for power and USB 2.0, USB 3.0 (SuperSpeed), and USB 3.1 (SuperSpeed+) for data.

TI offers solutions addressing a wide range of customer needs:

  • Passive media ports compatible with industry-leading smartphone interfaces that support connected vehicle ecosystems, sometimes referred to as USB host flip or USB On-The-Go (OTG)
  • USB Type-C and legacy BC1.2 ports support charge and data capabilities
  • Signal integrity preserved across various cable lengths in automotive environments for USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 standards
  • Cable compensation addresses voltage drop over long cable lengths
  • Devices utilizing USB Power Delivery (PD)
