Overview

A projector-based transparent window display consists of a small projector mounted inside the vehicle and a transparent film that is typically sandwiched or laminated in the vehicle's side, rear or even front window. Applications for a transparent window display include traditional and autonomous ride-sharing/hailing, advertisement, interior entertainment, vehicle diagnostics, driver greeting or car entry touchscreen.

Design requirements

Transparent window display designs require:

  • High optical output power for daytime brightness.
  • Phosphor or multi-color films for light emission from 405 nm or RGB projector.
  • Automotive DLP 405 nm or RGB chipsets.
