8.3.3 Overcurrent and Short-Circuit Protection

TPS1212-Q1 features integrated accurate I2t functionality for the implementation of a robust and flexible overcurrent protection mechanism in forward direction. This I2t functionality features an intelligent circuit breaking aimed at protecting PCB traces, connectors and wire harness from overheating, with no impact on load transients like inrush currents and bulk capacitor charging.

The device also features accurate and configurable short-circuit protection threshold (ISC) with fixed response time (tSC = 5us max) in forward direction.

Figure 8-8 shows the overall current-time characteristics.
