Integrated Fault Protection

The device features integrated fault protection, making it ideal for use in automotive applications. To keep the device in safe area of operation during certain fault conditions, internal current-limit protection and current-limit foldback are used to limit the maximum output current. This protects the device from excessive power dissipation. For example, during a short-circuit condition on the output, current through the pass element is limited to ICL to protect the device from excessive power dissipation.
