9.2.2.4 Input Capacitor

For most applications, 4.7µF nominal is sufficient and recommended. The input capacitor buffers the input voltage for transient events and also decouples the converter from the supply. TI recommends a low-ESR multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) for the best filtering. The capacitor must be placed between VIN and GND as close as possible to those pins.
