During start-up, as the output capacitor charges, the voltage drop as well as the power dissipated across the internal FET decreases. The average power dissipated in the device during start-up is calculated using Equation 20

Equation 20 assumes that the load does not draw any current (apart from the capacitor charging current) until the output voltage has reached its final value.
