Software Ecosystem and Integration

The overarching MSP microcontroller ecosystem is primarily comprised of the MSP SDKs, which provide driver libraries, middleware, code examples, and RTOS support for general embedded development. Within this ecosystem, MCAL serves a specialized role by providing the hardware-dependent drivers that abstract peripheral access, allowing higher-layer software to remain completely hardware-independent.

It is important to distinguish that MSP-MCAL is a separate package that is distinct from the standard MSP SDKs. While the SDK is intended for general-purpose embedded development, the MCAL package is specifically designed for AUTOSAR-compliant applications.
