Description

This reference design features an Electric Bridge DC Insulation Monitoring (DC-IM) method; which allows for an accurate symmetrical and asymmetrical insulation leakage detection mechanism, as well as an isolation resistance detection mechanism.

Texas Instruments presents a new generation of isolated amplifiers and switchers that enable isolation without an external supply on the hot side. Therefore, the MCU can power the isolation device from the cold side. The insulation monitoring diagnostic can be handled directly by the power conversion or charging protocol MCU.
