Introduction to our pulse and delay portfolio families

Our TPUL (pulse generator) and TDEL (signal delay) families modernize timing and delay circuits with significant design advantages. Both families deliver 1% typical and 10% maximum timing error, low-power consumption, wide voltage operation, and Schmitt-trigger inputs for noise immunity. Automotive-qualified options are available for both families. TPUL 300 and 400 series devices integrate a 1,000X timing multiplier, dramatically reducing the required capacitor size for long pulses. For pulses greater than 1 second, this enables replacing bulky electrolytic capacitors with compact surface-mount alternatives. TPUL and TDEL 500 series eliminate external timing components with preconfigured digital options, maximizing board space savings.

Our new TPUL family makes upgrading from legacy timing solutions simple. TPUL is pin-to-pin compatible with popular AHC, HC(T), LVC, LS, and LV-A pulse generators (monostable multivibrators), with no PCB redesign required. In most cases, no RC changes are needed, while some may require a minor resistor adjustment. TPUL 500 series devices replace external discrete RC timing components with preconfigured internal digital timing, improving accuracy and simplifying system design. We provide migration guides and Excel-based calculators to make transitions fast and straightforward.

TPUL pulse generators are versatile timing solutions suited for a wide range of applications.

  • Edge Detection: TPUL devices can generate consistent output pulses from rising or falling signal edges.
  • System Reset Control: TPUL devices can hold a system in reset while all other devices are disabled, providing a dedicated hardware timer for consistent reset behavior.
  • Delayed Pulse Generation: Cascading two TPUL channels creates a delayed output pulse from a single input trigger.
  • ASK Signal Demodulation: TPUL devices reconstruct clean digital pulses from bursts of on-off keying (OOK) encoded signals.

TDEL digital edge delay elements are an ideal solution for space-constrained applications.

  • Signal Debouncing: Rising (or falling) edge delays allow instant output from falling (or rising) edges while effectively filtering out glitches seen by mechanical switches. TDEL offers solutions with up to 3 channels per package.
  • Pulse Stretching: Also referred to as "Pulse Catching", extends short input pulses, from as small as 5ns, in order to meet minimum width requirements. This results in easier to detect pulses by downstream logic or display systems.
  • Glitch Removal: With both edge-delay devices, TDEL can eliminate short pulses entirely from a digital input stream.
