Electro-mechanical braking (EMB)

Block diagram

Overview

One of the four-wheel brake control units per vehicle is located at the wheel and includes the brake motor, and, optionally, an electro-mechanical parking brake. Control is managed by a central control unit (ECU) that coordinates the braking force for each wheel brake control unit and supports ABS and ESP.

Design requirements

•     High processing power for lowest latency and fastest braking reaction time.

•     Precise analog signal chain for accurate braking force resulting in shortest braking distance.

•     Functional safety aware application enables next-gen automomous driving.
