Entry level instrument cluster

Block diagram

Overview

Entry level instrument cluster features traditional analog gauges and tell-tales for information such as fuel efficiency, resettable trip odometers and oil life; these clusters may have electromechanical odometers or simple character displays. Our integrated circuits, reference designs and products enable you to create solutions that exceed cluster expectations with low system standby current, low power consumption, reliable data communication and the ability to sense LED failures and provide driver warnings.

Design requirements

Entry level instrument cluster designs require:

  • Balancing EMI requirements with performance.
  • Implementation of driver notification functions such as audio amplifiers for driver warnings and LED drivers for tell-tales.
