Overview

The AFE8128 evaluation modules (EVMs) are evaluation boards used to evaluate the AFE812x family of integrated RF Sampling transceivers from Texas Instruments. The AFE8128 devices support up to eight transmit, eight receive, and two feedback channels (8T8R2F). The devices integrate the phaselocked loop (PLL) and voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) for generating data converter clocks. The AFE8128 device integrates eight JESD204B/Ccompatible serializer/deserializer (SerDes) transceivers capable of running up to 32Gbps in NRZ to transmit and receive digital data.

  • LMK04828 clock generator IC to provide reference clocks and SYSREF to the analog front end (AFE) and capture card (field-programmable gate array, FPGA)
  • SMA port to connect a clock input and synchronize the LMK frequencies to an external reference from instruments like signal generators and spectrum analyzers
  • External clocking options for external reference clock signal support for the on-chip PLL
