This TAC5x72EVM-K and TAC5x82EVM-K evaluation module (EVM) allows user to test the capabilities of Texas Instruments’ TAC5572, TAC5672, TAC5582, and TAC5682 PC Codecs. The TAC5xx2 is a high performance full-function SoundWire stereo audio codec, integrating a universal audio jack (UAJ) with ground-centered headphone (HP) amplifier, 4-ch. digital mic and stereo Class- D amplifier. The UAJ supports jack and button-press detection. The TAC56x2 UAJ ADC and DAC have a dynamic range of 100dB and 114dB respectively. The TAC55x2 UAJ ADC and DAC have a dynamic range of xx and xx respectively. The headphone amp can drive up to 40mW ground-centered output into 32Ω headphone loads. The TAC56x2 Class-D amp can drive up to 12W per channel into 8Ω speaker loads and 6W per channel into 4Ω. The TAC55x2 Class-D amp can drive up to 3W per channel into both 8Ω and 4Ω speaker loads. The Class-D amp can directly operate from a wide range of 2S-4S battery inputs. TAC5x72 and TAC5x82 integrates programmable channel gain, digital volume control, a low-jitter PLL, programmable HPF, programmable EQ and bi-quad filters and lowlatency filter modes for the UAJ ADC, HP, ClassD and PDM Mic paths. The TAC5x82 features an internal DSP to support Smart Amp protection features such as thermal and excursion protection. The TAC5xx2 supports the MIPI Alliance SoundWire® 1.2 and is SDCA 1.0 compliant. The device also supports TDM, I2S, or LJ audio formats, and can be controlled with I2C or SPI. These integrated highperformance features make TAC5x72 and TAC5x82 an excellent single-chip choice for notebooks and desktop audio applications.
