AC Charging (Pile) Station

Renewables: EV Charging

Description

Modern electric and plug in hybrid vehicles require fairly substantial service connections to the grid as customers begin to demand faster charge times and longer range, two diametrically opposed options. An electric vehicle charging station can negotiate with the vehicle to let the charge system know how much power is available at the station, and safely enable the power only when the connection is verified safe. The simple act of plugging in and charging a car becomes much more complicated when additional features begin to demand more processing power and sensing technologies. TI can help add the following features, safely:

  • Wi-Fi enabled EV charging: real-time monitoring and control with a home or office charging station; remotely schedule time with public stations
  • Contactless prepayment and media rich user interfaces
  • Cloud communications and accurate energy measurement
