DP83C8512x Hardware Configurations

This section describes the hardware configuration available for DP83C8512x'. If no strap resistors are implemented, the default value is Odd Nibble Enabled, MII mode, FLD disabled. '0' corresponds to Mode 0 while '1' corresponds to Mode 1.

The FLD feature is only supported on DP83C8512xM. DP83C8512xRL and DP83C8512xRF do not support FLD.

Table 7-6 DP83C8512xM Hardware Configuration
PIN NAME PIN NO. DEFAULT MODE FUNCTION
LED0 24 0 PHY_ADDR
0 0
1 1
LED1/CLKOUT 25 1 0 Real-time Ethernet
1 Standard Ethernet
RX_D3 12 0 0 Disable FLD
RX_CLK 13 1 Enable FLD
RX_ER 28 0 0 CLKOUT 25MHz on Pin 25
1 LED1 on Pin 25
Note: In MII mode, PHY_ADDR is either 0 to 1 depending on the LED0 strapping.

PIN NAME PIN NO. DEFAULT MODE FUNCTION
LED0 24 0 PHY_ADDR
0 0
1 1
RMII_EN 8 0 1 RMII Enable
RX_ER/LED1_EN 28 0 0 CLKOUT 25MHz on Pin 25
1 LED1 on Pin 25
Table 7-8 DP83C8512xRF Hardware Configuration
PIN NAME PIN NO. DEFAULT MODE FUNCTION
LED0 24 0 PHY_ADDR
0 0
1 1
RMII_EN 8 0 1 RMII Enable
RF_EN 12 0 1 RF Enable
RX_ER/LED1_EN 28 0 0 CLKOUT 25MHz on Pin 25
1 LED1 on Pin 25
Note: In RMII Leader and Follower mode, PHY_ADDR is either 2 or 3 depending on the LED0 strapping.
Note: Both RX_D3 and RX_CLK must be pulled high to enable FLD.

RX_ER and RX_ER/LED1_EN are latched at POR only. HW reset does not re-latch this strap.
