(5) Applying a VIN greater than VDDIO/VDDA or less than VSS/VSSA will turn on the ESD current clamping diode causing additional current flow to the respective supply rail.  If this occurs, the current must be kept within the MIN/MAX listed to prevent permanent damage to the device.
(6) Input clamp current must also be observed.
