SLVS351Q September 2002 – June 2025 TPS796
PRODUCTION DATA
The TPS796 uses a PMOS-pass transistor to achieve a low dropout voltage. When (VIN – VOUT) is less than the dropout voltage (VDO), the PMOS-pass transistor is in the linear region of operation and rDS(on) of the PMOS-pass transistor is the input-to-output resistance. Because the PMOS transistor behaves like a resistor in dropout, VDO approximately scales with the output current.
