8 DLP Products Supply Chain

Aligned with the division of hardware electronics and optics, it is common to have the following supply chain arrangement:

  • Texas Instruments designs and supplies DLP chipsets (DMD, controller, and PMIC).
  • Optical module maker (OMM) designs the optical system and supplies entire optics housing including the DMD, illumination source, flex cable, and heatsinks (in some cases).
  • System integrator designs the electronics and casing and supplies final product, including optical module and DLP chipset.

In some cases, the system integrator will design and supply the optical module as well.
