EVM Analog Input Options

Connect differential analog input signals to pins +AINx and -AINx (x denoting channels 1 and 2) on terminal blocks J3 and J1 as shown in Figure 4-1. The EVM common-mode amplifier circuit shown in Figure 2-2 uses 20kΩ resistors to bias the differential inputs to the correct mid-scale voltage when using a floating input source. This configuration is useful for floating sensors such as geophones and hydrophones.

Set the common-mode voltage as follows if the differential input source has an established common-mode voltage relative to GND: +2.5V for the default unipolar power configuration (AVDD = +5.3V, AVSS = GND); or 0V for the optional bipolar power configuration (AVDD = +2.8V, AVSS = -2.5V).

Each of the differential input pairs accepts up to a 5VPP differential signal with a common-mode voltage of +2.5V (default unipolar supply) or 0V (optional bipolar supply). The REF54500 provides the EVM default 5V reference voltage. Refer to Figure 2-1 for details on the recommended voltage span for the AINP and AINN inputs with respect to GND.
