Pull up resistors on I/O Lines

Each A-port I/O has an internal 10-kΩ pull up resistor to VCCA, and each B-port I/O has an internal 10-kΩ pull up resistor to VCCB. If a smaller value of pull up resistor is required, an external resistor must be added from the I/O to VCCA or VCCB (in parallel with the internal 10-kΩ resistors). However, adding lower value pull up resistors effects VOL levels. It is recommended not to go below 1.5-kΩ. The internal pull ups of the TCA9416 are controlled by their respective supplies. The resistors have back-biasing protection, so that if a supply is off, the current cannot flow through the resistors back into the supply. If a supply is above VUVLO_RISE, the pull up resistor for its side is enabled.
