The EMB system is a fully electronic braking system that triggers actuators (motors, sensors, control units) through electrical signals. Each wheel equipped with an EMB system. The EMB system converts the braking intention of the driver directly into mechanical braking. When the brake pedal is pressed by the driver, the sensors transmit signals to the electronic control unit (ECU), which calculates the braking force demand and sends the result to EMB actuator. The control command is sent to the EMB actuator using CAN communication. The caliper is then driven through BLDC motor produced clamping force.
In response to the shortcomings of the legacy and EHB systems, EMB replaces the traditional hydraulic braking system with motor braking, which provides more electronically, precise, and faster braking control than EHB.
