Powering-Up EVM

  1. Connect input power cable to a power supply that meets input power specifications defined in Table 1-1. The red wire is the V+ terminal and black wire is the V– terminal.
  2. Turn on the supply power. Once powered up, controller PCB LED indicators (D5) illuminates green to indicate the board is provided VIN_MAIN power, such as 12V.
  3. If the external SPI flash card for the FPGA was installed along with the jumper to configure from that flash, then the FPGA status LEDs (D6 and D8) should come on for a brief amount of time while the FPGA configures. When configuration is completed, INTB (D4) and FPGA_DONE (D2) LEDs should come up as green.
  4. Turn the PROJ_ON switch (SW6) ON. The ON position is toward the edge of the board, as indicated by the board silkscreen. The controller board's PROJ_ON LED (D3) should illuminate green.
  5. If the FPGA is being used with external SPI flash card, then the PROJ_ON switch also triggers the FPGA to begin emitting its "heartbeat." The status LEDs on LEDs D6 and D8 will begin to blink, or provide a heartbeat.
