Quick Start Guide

  1. Select one of the two power input options.
    1. External Power Source: Short VIN and VEXT on J3. Connect the external power source to header J2.
    2. USB-C: Short VIN and VUSB on J3. Plug in the USB-C cable to J1.
Note: The input supply voltage directly to TDZ8907 can be monitored using TP2 – VTDZ.
  2. Choose boost output voltage by setting J5. The boost output voltage can be changed easily during device operation.
  3. To drive a 2-Terminal Piezo:
    1. Choose one of the two options for PWM input.
      1. On-board 555 Oscillator that outputs a 50% duty cycle square wave. Short DIN_PWM and PWM_OUT on J4. Tune R8 (0kΩ to 20kΩ) to adjust the output frequency of the oscillator that is provided to the input of TDZ8907 (default is 3.2kHz).
        1. The value for R8 can be tuned using the formula below by plugging in the desired frequency.
          Equation 1. R 8 = 1 1.4 ×   f   × C 8 = 1 1.4 ×   f ×   100 n F
      2. External PWM: Short DIN_PWM and EXT DIN on J4. Connect the external PWM signal (for example, function generator) to TP3.
    2. Connect the 2 terminals of the piezo to J7.
  4. The boost and output PWM of TDZ8907 enables once supply is given and DIN is brought HIGH.
