Abstract

Modern autonomous vehicles require high-bandwidth radar data, necessitating a move toward automotive Ethernet. To prevent the resulting increase in wiring weight and complexity, this paper proposes the adoption of power over data line (PoDL). PoDL integrates power and data into a single cable, minimizing harness mass and potentially reducing sensor costs, optimizing thermal management for next-generation sensing architectures.
