Servo drive functional safety module

Block diagram

Overview

Our integrated circuits and reference designs help you create a servo drive functional safety module with reliable speed and position measurement along with robust digital IO to implement various functions per IEC 61800-5-2. Our products enable performing diagnostic coverage for detecting various faults which helps increase safe failure fraction.

Design requirements

Servo drive functional safety modules often require:

  • Power supplies which can operate up to or protected against 60-Vdc input.
  • Redundant multiprotocol encoder interfaces and protected digital inputs/outputs.
  • Cross monitoring of signals and enabling single hardware fault tolerance.
  • Continuous self-diagnosis of circuits through monitoring voltage rails and temperature.
