Description
This reference design showcases the TPS92682-Q1 dual-channel LED controller used in an automotive front lighting application with high beam (HB) and low beam (LB), daytime running light (DRL), and position (POS) light functionality. The design uses one TPS92682-Q1 device to implement a single-stage power solution to drive both the HB and LB channel, as well as the DRL and POS functionality with a controller area network (CAN) interface. This simple design reduces component count and solution size as traditional implementation uses two separate controllers. The TPS92682-Q1 device includes internal and external PWM dimming support for additional flexibility as well as built-in monitoring for fault detection and protection of the continuous LED current. Electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtering is included and designed to meet CISPR-25, Class 5 conduction requirements.
Features
- Dual output controller
- Coupled SEPIC design for DRL and POS
- Uncoupled SEPIC design for HB and LB
- CISPR-25 class 5 EMI solution
- Switching frequency outside of AM band
