This reference design demonstrates the use of AWR1843, a 77-GHz single-chip mmWave sensor with integrated DSP, MCU, and hardware accelerator as an automated parking sensor, which enables robust detection of objects around a car in challenging parking and environmental conditions. With a range resolution of less than 4 cm and 10-MHz IF bandwidth, objects moving at high speed can be detected at good resolution. The evaluation kit comes with an antenna design that enables detection in a field of view of ±50° in azimuth and ±15° in elevation, with a detection range from 4 cm to 40+ m. A reference software implementation on the device is provided, which enables high-resolution detection of objects with clustering. A MATLAB®-based GUI is provided for visualization of detected objects.

Texas Instruments and Accelerated Designs, Inc. have collaborated together to provide TI customers with schematic symbols and PCB layout footprints for TI products.
Both PCB footprints and schematic symbols are available for download in a vendor neutral format, which can then be exported to the leading EDA CAD/CAE design tools using the Ultra Librarian Reader. The reader is available as a (free download.).
The UL Reader is a subset of the Ultra Librarian toolset that can generate, import, and export components and their attributes in virtually any EDA CAD/CAE format.
