Under the Hood of a Noninverting Buck-Boost Converter

00:31:39 | 14 JUN 2017

This training dives into the details of noninverting buck-boost converters. We will introduce several applications that require non-inverting buck-boost due to varying input or output voltages and compares a number of topologies capable of buck and boost operation. You can learn more about the highest performance solution for non-inverting buck-boost, the 4-switch, single-inductor buck-boost. We will then go under the hood of a 4-switch buck-boost converter design with considerations and equations for component selection and extend the buck-boost application design to pc board layout and presents a high density layout optimized for EMI and stability performance.

Why should I take this training?

  • Develop a firm understanding of the operational and design fundamentals of basic buck-boost since it is the building block of many topologies (SEPIC, flyback, Zeta, 2-Sw/4-Sw buck-boost)

What will I learn?

  • General information surrounding the buck-boost such as topology applications, advantages vs. disadvantages, and operation basics
  • In-depth design example with calculations and detailed tips for component selection and layout
