At Texas Instruments, we’re providing ways to reduce global energy consumption in the face of growing technological needs. How? With our new UCC217xx family of isolated gate drivers, featuring ultra-fast protection. They enable efficient transfer of energy through IGBT and silicon carbide switches in high power systems greater than a few kilowatts, such as motor drives, robotics and traction inverters in electric vehicles. This family of gate drivers incorporates diagnostics along with capacitive isolation technology, leading to increased robustness and system lifetime. Additionally, fast over-current detection and analog sensing features protect against faults during short circuit conditions, ensuring the integrity of both the power switch and gate driver.  All of this allows you to reduce board size, design complexity and cost while operating IGBTs and silicon carbide power devices – both reliably and efficiently.
