Elevator safety
Developed using DRV8402 motor control kit and Hercules RM46 control card. MCU drives the PWM outputs to drive the DRV8402 motor drivers. TPS65381 power management IC is used as power supply and external monitor for the MCU. The motor control functions are demonstrated on the scaled down version of the elevator with doors and elevator car. Hercules MCU runs the motor control functions provided by the Motorware library. Safety features of Hercules and TPS are shown using fault simulation and SafeTI diagnostic library. If a fault is detected in the MCU during elevator operation, the system comes to a safe stop. The solution highlights the importance of attaining a safe state in a safety critical application as this.
